Running MindManager 2016 for Windows on Mac with Parallels (Win7)

I have been using MindManager 2016 on a new Mac running Win7 on Parallels in coherence and for the most part it is working ok, but I am having two issues that I wonder if anyone else is having...

1)  Exporting a map as a MindManager Viewer PDF - this is producing an error that Java is not installed.  I click to install and it says it does and all is fine but I continue to get this error.

2)  Exporting a map as a CSV - this just gives me some dialogue boxes (first pick pivot, table or outline - but the OK button is missing), then just hitting enter I get a small exporting CSV window that just sits there and nothing happens.

This is really hampering my ability to share this with other folks, and I can't move to the Mac version because it isn't as featured as the windows one.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

thanks
Ron

I'm receiving the same error message on MindManager on my Win8.1 VM running Parallels. It happens whether or not I'm in Coherence mode or not. I have to switch to the Mac version of MindManager to export.

1) This might be related to a difference in 'bitness' between Windows and Java. Please check if you have the 64-bit Java installed when running Windows in 64-bit. More info in this thread: https://community.mindjet.com/mindjet/topics/pdf-viewer-export-requires-java-but-i-have-installed-it

2) This is related to the fact that some MindManager interace elements do not scale very well when Windows has been set to scale due to higher resolutions (such as a MBP Retina screen). Parallels provides a quick fix by selecting 'More Space' in the View > Retina Resolution menu (see screenshot below)

Actually, in the CSV export there are several buttons when the export is done but these might be hidden in your case due to the scaling of the interface (see below for an example with the 'More Space' option enabled, which doesn't look pretty... but at least it's workable).

So I have done both options and have gotten further...  so thank you!

However... there are now two issues

1) related to the export to PDF -  this is what I get.  I have tried upping my memory on Parallels to 8GB with no luck.  I have even tried naming the file something simple with no luck.  I am now banging my head on the wall in frustration.

2) related to the CSV, I can now see the buttons (Open, Open Folder, Cancel), but the progress bar never completes.  I have tried hitting open and open folder but all it does is clear the screen.

I am wondering if I should just reinstall or something like that.  Thoughts?

Hi Ron,

For PDF export issue we have generally seen the error where Java is either not installed or the bit-rate version does not match the bit-rate of MindManager

I would suggest to check the Bit rate version of Mindmanager 16 installed by navigating to File--> From drop down click Help--> on right side under above Mindjet MindManager.
Once you find out the bit version of
MindManager ( 32 bit or 64 bit), click on the link below to install the
same bit-rate version of Java

http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Also make sure latest version of Adobe Acrobat reader and Adobe Flash player is isntalled.

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
https://get.adobe.com/reader/

For second issue related to CSV export.
Make sure bit rate version of Mindmanager 2016 is same as bit tare version of Microsoft office.
Make sure both are installed locally on same drive.
If  possible run a repair on both application and restart  and see if you are able to export to .csv

If you are still seeing the issue then I would recommend opening a ticket with our support team.

Shilpa, here is what seems to be a stupid question... but do I need to have a Windows version of Excel installed on the Parallels/Windows side of the Mac in order to export to CSV?

Hi Ron,

Yes that's generally the case for all other MS office exports, but I found out that MindManager does not rely on MS Office to complete the csv export .
Is it specific to map?Can you create a test map and try to export ?

I would probably recommend to re install MindManager 16.

If you are still seeing the issue then I would recommend opening a ticket with our support team.
As we might need to set up a conference call to troubleshoot further.

Looks like the CSV export buttons are still missing in MindManager 2017
