Saving topic formats in templates

I've used MM since pretty much the first version came out and have recently upgraded to MM14. I can't find a way to define topic formats in templates. Read the thread at https://community.mindjet.com/mindjet/topics/font_default_setting and that doesn't help - still getting formating I don't want when I create new maps. So what's the trick to define default formats for various topics levels etc in templates, and specifically also in the MM default template?

Thanks,

Lars.

Design ribbon - Template Organiser - Map Templates - Select template (New Blank Map) - Modify

Design ribbon - Map Theme - Modify - Make your adjustments - Apply and Close - Save

Right, thanks, and yes, I don't have a problem finding my way to the template organiser. What I don't understand is how to modify the template topic styles. In older MM there was a specific function for this. In MM14 I can't find such a function. And if I simply modify a topic at a certain level in a template, it doesn't affect how other topics in a new map based on this template are displayed.

I just followed the above process and modified the topic style (fill, shape & growth) and font through four subtopic levels.

When I opened a new map and grew it though the levels, the styles were as I had changed them to.

I can also add Topic Styles to the template map:

* Design ribbon - Template Organiser - Map Templates - Select template (New Blank Map) - Modify

Create a new format on a topic in the map

* Design ribbon - Topic Style - New Style from Selected Topic.

* Save the template.

When I open a new blank map the Topic Styles are available to me

* Design ribbon - Topic Style

Another thought:

If you have the template map open

* Right click a topic - Format Topic -  Make the changes - Map Theme (bottom left of window)  - Save in Default Theme for this Map - OK

* Save the template map

Your changes will appear in new maps based on this template.

Thanks Andrew ... I was trying to do the same thing today (5/30/15) in MM15 and couldn't figure it out. Your post helped immensely.
