Hi,

I try to synchronize an excel sheet with MindManager. For identification of the topics we created templates which have an ID. The XML code of those topics looks like this:

<ap:Topic  Dirty="0000000000000001" OId="Ssf6hvCJAESxbP8pRjH/2A==" Gen="0000000000000000"
   <ap:TopicViewGroup ViewIndex="0" />
   <ap:Text Dirty="0000000000000001" PlainText="Test" ReadOnly="false">
      <ap:Font />
   </ap:Text>
   <ap:NamedDefaultsId Dirty="0000000000000001" Guid="rEMKJYJhqEqI319F9KOgkw==" />
</ap:Topic>

Now i create some topics and have to assign a template to each topic. But i don't know how to format these topics by the GUID i already have.

So how do I assign a template via macro to my topic?

Regards
Thomas

Just Curious.... Do you use the built-in Excellinker that synchronizes automatically?

If so, why do the coding?

But maybe you can include an image of what you have and what you want. This will help me understand your need.

Ok here are two images:

As you can see some of the informations from MindManager have to be translated.

 The shape of the "Reiter" topic for example causes the text "Reiter SAP" in column C, or the icon "M" is a "M" in column M while the "D" is a "X" in column "T".

 Because of the shape of "Element" I know that column F has to be "Element", while column J has to be "Subelement".

The transfer has to go in both directions, from MindManager to Excel and from Excel to MindManager.

OK. I think I understand what you want.

The bad news is, that I can't do what you want. Maybe Nigel Goult's MAP add-in can do this. https://www.olympic-limited.co.uk/mindmanager-add-ins/map-for-mindmanager/ Plese explore all options.

But some good news is, that you could achieve the same or similar functionality just by creating an empty spreadsheet and use excel linker or excel range to fill it.

You doubleclick inside the spreadsheet info in your topic and make additions in Excel. That way the spreadsheet and the mindmap are always in sync.
Ofcourse you the shapes and icons are no longer necessary and that maybe be essential for your purpose.

Ok I'll have a look at the add-in you suggested.

Yes unfortunately the shapes, colours and Icons are essential for me, because I don't know how I could get the Information in Excel without changing the Text of the Topic.

Thanks for your help.

I made a quick and dirty movie on how I use excellinker to populate Excel from MindManager without changing the text of the topic.

Thomas, maybe you alter the workflow that you first select and copy a Topic which is known by the GUID and then paste this Topic in the structure of your map. Then the 2nd step would be to add text info etc to this Topic based on the information of the Excel sheet.

Yeah that would be a good workaround.

Therefore I have to create a legend to ensure that there are all possible shapes in the map. I would like to set the legend invisible but I don't know how to set a Topic invisible. Perhaps you can help me with that?

Hmm, I think this could be achieved by filtering the map. However, I would choose to not hide this information and use something like a Floating Topic with all the variants of Topics connected as Sub Topics to the Floating Topic.
