Slow Startup of the MindJet Program

When I first launch Mindjet (Mindjet 11 for Windows and MindManager 12 for Windows) it takes FOREVER!!! (> 30 seconds) to start up. If I close the program and restart it it launches in an acceptable amount of time (~2 seconds). Why does this happen and how do I fix it. I have disabled most of the Add-Ins as well as OnLine Access and everything else I can think of but nothing helps.

Randy,

This happens to me the first time I start MM each day. After the first start of the day it then opens very fast.

I suspect it is due to the application trying to connect to Mindjet servers for update checks and such like.

Not sure this is a support issue, more a "by design" one.

What might also influence the performance a lot is the operating system (which version of Windows?) and things like virusscanners (which one?).

Is this new behavior, or is this something you've always experienced with MindManager 2012 before installing Mindjet 11?

I am using Windows 7 Pro and AVG virus scanner.

When I used an older version a few years back it lauched instantly. If this problem is "by design" someone needs to be sat down and given a lesson in how not to mess with a good product. This leaves a really sour taste in peoples mouth when I get them started with the program. IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!

Olympic is correct. If you use a software firewall on your PC (like Norton Internet Security) you can block the application from connecting to the Internet by editing or creating a rule. This really speeds up loading Mindjet on my system. However, this may impact how the program interacts with the Mindjet cloud. If you don't use their cloud services, you can still check for updates manually.

Mindmanager 2012 also behaved this way. I use a very fast Windows 7 64-bit PC with 16GB or RAM and a fast SSD for the OS and programs and Mindjet is the slowest loading program on my system. Even Libre Office is faster and that says something ;)

While logged in as Administrator

1. Start Menu > Run/Open > Regedit

2. Within Regedit, Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mindjet\MindManager\10\Settings\EnableDmsSupport

3. Edit EnableDmsSupport (REG_DWORD) and change the "Value data" to 0 and click OK.

4. File > Exit

5. Close and Reopen MindManager for the changes to take effect.

Please note: After implementing this workaround, DMS will be disabled and you will not be able to use webDAV or SharePoint Check Out/Check In functionality when accessing a file in MindManager. To directly access a file in SharePoint or WebDAV in MindManager you will need to map a drive to the full UNC (\\ComputerName\SharedFolder\...) which will allow you to Open and Save files to that location without SharePoint DMS or WebDAV functionality.

Also use File > Options to:

- Addins > Disable those you don't use
- Online Access > Disable Log in to Mindjet on start up
