Syncing using Dropbox across different platforms

Hello!
It would be very helpful if the Android app and the iOs app would use the same dropbox folder. Unfortunately I am not able to change the dropbox folder on my iPad to anything different than "Mindjet" and in the Android app I cannot change the folder at all.

Thank you for your post. I am going to change this to an idea so that our product team can take a look at this to help them plan for future releases.

Yes, please implement this! I make use of MindJet a lot on Android, and was extremely disappointed to discover I could not sync to my iPad through Dropbox.

To add my support for this idea. I couldn't believe it when I got my works iPad that it didn't sync to the same folder as my personal android tablet. The iPad and Android teams can't be talking to each other! It's not a new idea as far as I'm concerned, it's a bug. Please fix it.

Hi. Few days ago I installed newest version of Mindjet, but I'm very disappointed :-(. In older verison, I could sync two folders - one on local and one on Dropbox and all maps were synced in real time and I could read them when I was offline. Now this feature is unavaillable. I need to use other program to sync this two folders or copy them from Dropbox to my local folder but this solution is time-consuming and uncomfortable.

Could you please restore this feature: two-way sync Dropbox and local folder?

The new release was intended to make it so that users can now access the dedicated app Dropbox folder from both platforms. It's true that the Mindjet iOS app still is limited to the 'Mindjet' directory, but with Mindjet Android 2.0, you can access and synch to this directory as well, effectively sharing the same directory across platforms.

1. In Android 2.0, go to Settings>Storage>Other>Dropbox and enable your account.
2. In your Dropbox directory, expose the list item menu for the 'Mindjet' directory (or long press on same to expose the menu overlay), and select 'Cache offline'--this will enable you to work off and online with its contents, and they will be synched and shared between Android and iOS versions of Mindjet.

I hope that helps address some of the obstacles users have encountered on this thread. Thanks for the feedback

@Andy, well it helps me a little. But when I go offline (turn off WiFi), the Dropbox folders disappear, even if I set them "offline cache". And Dropbox tab is loading and loading..

Interesting--so your device has no data plan, and is only connected via wi-fi, is that correct? You're effectively in airplane mode, even though you haven't set it to that?

Working from that assumption, the good news is that we can handle that use case:

Go to Settings>Storage and enable 'WiFi Sync'

If you do this, the app will stop trying to synch with Dropbox when you're offline, and you'll be able to work with folders you've marked as 'Cache offline'

If you don't mind confirming that that solution works for you, I'd be much obliged. I can confirm it works on my devices, but with mobile there's always some variations. Thanks.

@Andy, thanks it's better now :-) I'm using data plan to connect to the Internet but I was wondering, what will happen when I'll be out of range and loose internet connection. I don't deny that the solution in older version was better.
I'm planning to use this app at school, and I usually just turn off my data plan and wifi to save my battery. Maybe I need to get use to it. Or some options will change soon ;-)
Thank you again.

Thanks for the update--I'm glad I could help you out a bit. And we're looking now at how we can better handle the subtle differences in people's workflows within the app. Your example is a helpful study for sure.

Cheers,

Andy

I still am interested in Andy's question about how to access Dropbox files offline that are supposedly "cached offline." When I am not in Wifi or cell data access and I start Mindjet, the Dropbox tab tries to load continuously but no files show up even though I had marked the folder as "cache offline." How do I access the cached files when I am completely out of service and Wifi range?

@casey.harms, as Andy said, go to Settings->Storage and enable 'Wifi Sync'.
