I want to set up a new group of text markers ; dead easy! BUT I want this new group to be available for all maps - i.e. appear as a default group. Is this possible? If so, how do I do it?

My reason: I'm using MindManager for GTD (Getting Things Done - www.davidco.com) and want to use text markers to assign contexts to tasks

Hello David

Text markers are part of the set of Map Markers, which every map has, including the template maps used to create new ones.

Set up your text markers, then go to Design > Template Organizer, and select Marker Lists. Click "Add New Marker List" and choose "From current map". This will create a new marker list which can then be retrospectively applied to any map.

In the same Template Organizer dialogue, you can go to the Map Templates tab, select the "New blank map" template and click the Modify button. The return to the Template Organizer and apply your GTD map marker list. This will mean that every new map will contain these markers.
