Two columns in a branch

Sometimes a bransch has a lot of "small children", just one or a few words. Typically a list of names e.g.

I would like to format the bransch as a "two column bransch".
That would save a lof of vertical space.

The solution to that could be that you make two -motherchilds- one or ech column and than drag the desired children to each of those.
If you then use TREE of ORGCHART VIEWS it will look the way you suggest.

I assume this splitting lots of children dynamically across those motherchilds could be a function of the famous MAP 2.2 add-in??

To follow on Ary's suggestion you can apply an Orgchart layout with two branches and a parent in each branch. Each parent is given a tree layout and subtopics added.

You have the option of naming the parent topics as in the following example:

- or not naming them, in which case you can minimise the appearance of the parent topics by formatting them (making them invisible doesn't work so well however as you will end up with a distracting break in the line). In the following example I've formatted the parent topics as circles with no filler and no text, the smallest font size possible and no internal margins:

Thanks for good ideas.
But I would like to have a simple and quick option.
To apply several columns in Word takes a couple of seconds.

And Org chart only works in "vertical mode".

Well I have'nt used MS Word in a very long time, so I don't  know these features.
But since you refer to a textprocessor I looked into that inside MindManager's current posibilities
And I found similar functionality...in the textprocessor feature.

An option for your idea could be to use the tables inside the topic notes.
You can even decide how many columns you want and change those later on.

You can show and hide those with just a quick ctrl-T command

In those cases you can always export (in MM 16 it is called Share) to Word.

And include your notes content in your export.

Hi Bjorn, if you want something that's simple and quick to use you can create a template of the branches laid out and formatted the way you want and save it as a map part which would then take only one click to add to a map.

I'm also slightly puzzled though by your comment that the orgchart layout only works in vertical mode, since in your original post you ask about how to ser up a "two column branch", which seems to imply a vertical layout. In any case Ary's suggestion of a table in the topic notes is a good one and would translate better if you want to export to Word.

This is what I would like to have in MM, the top branch.

Vs the solution today

Imagine, right-click on the topic and  select Columns, and then select the number, or "Dynamic".

Hi Bjorn, I think the closest you can get to this is to insert a spreadsheet into the topic - either using MindManager's own spreadsheet facility or by inserting an Excel spreadsheet.
