I have just updated the latest Mindmanager 2016 expecting a really helpful flowchart function. Well it is so underwhelmeing! Why O why is it so limited! The insert New Decision is going in the right direction, but why did they not do the same thing for all the other shapes associated with flowcharts. They could have added symbols to Map Parts that could simply be dragged into position.

It is so clear that this is marketing ploy aimed to compete with other mindmapiping programs. I searched the help thinking I must be missing, but no, there is really no hidden tricks - you simply change the shape to represent the flow chart item.

Rather than simply clicking to place, new sections are prone to distort the map. I keep finding I am losing control of the creative process as adding arrows (connections) changes the shape and spacial relationships.

The help offers only rudimentary information. Searching the Web finds lots of information about flow charts. Ironically it also show multiple programs that will do this job more effectively.

I searched for video tutorial, but only found references to past webinars but no links to view them.

I really want this program to succeed. However, as the years go on I only see upgrades that fix programming problems and bugs. New features tickle out. Add-ins seem to add more value and follow more aggressive development paths.

I once would have only recommended Mindmanager as organisation wide tool. Now I would suggest that managers look at other options.

Hi Renaldostheold,

As the designer of the flowcharts feature I appreciate your feedback. So far we have implemented a small portion of what has been designed for flow charts, we plan to release several enhancements in this area in upcoming releases. A few examples are an improved layout algorithm that handles overlapping topics in a smarter way and more Ribbon commands for adding decisions and topics in multiple directions.

There's more in the works in the future as well. Thanks for using MindManager!
