Update Map Legend

I used the "Insert Legend into Map" function to insert my huge map index into my map. I have since made some changes to it, and was wondering if there is any way to get the one I pasted in there earlier to update, versus having to remove it and add it again.

The reason for this is that my map legend performs a dual function as a glossary for my output document, and I don't want to lose the Notes content I have attached to the individual entries.

I don't think this is possible as all the insert legend function does is paste the legend into the map as a main topic and set of subtopics. There is no active link once the legend has been inserted.

However you don't necessarily have to remove and add the legend to update it. Repeating the insert legend function a second time will not overwrite the first copy so you could always drag and drop additional elements from the more recent legend to the older one and then delete the second legend. Alternatively if it was easier you could go the other way, copying the notes content from the old to the new legends, and then deleting the older legend.

That's a good idea Alex. I think I will go with the side-by-side approach. It's going to be fun since my map index is something just short of a mile high at this point :)
