Updating progress between multiple topics.

Is there a way to have one subtopic be attached to two parent topics such that if the subtopic's progress is updated, then the progress for each of the parent topics is as well? For instance, Topic 1 and Topic 2 each are attached to Subtopic A, such that if Subtopic A's progress is updated to complete, then the progress for Topic 1 and 2 is as well.

Alternatively, is there a way to sync multiple subtopics such that if one subtopic's progress is updated, then all of them are? I am making a tree with many identical subtopics, and I'm trying not to have to manually update the progress for all of them.

Hi Julie

Which product are you using? Select one or more in the Products & Services in the right hand column.

A subtopic can only be connected to one parent topic. Relationships are used to create dependencies between tasks. When the tasks information is rolled up in a branch the parent topic summarises the state of the subtopics.

It is easy to manually update multiple topics with the same progress state but perhaps you are already doing this..

Assuming Windows Desktop.

Select multiple topics and then either:
- Home ribbon > Tasks - Progress and select the progress required
- Right click one of the topics > Icons > Progress
- Open Task Info pane and set Progress

You can multiple select by either:
- Holding down Ctrl whilst selecting multiple topics
- Left click and drag the mouse across the desktop to enclose topics with the rubber band.
- Or using Find or Power Select to find topics with specific text or icons etc.
