Using mindmaps on an external (removable) SD card on an Android Samsung Galaxy S3 or S5

This probably applies to different android phones, but I encountered a problem when upgrading to a new phone.  I like to have all my mindmaps locally on the removable SD card so I just take the SD card out of the old phone when I upgrade and hey presto the files are all there.

The other articles here say you can't use an external SD card for storage but that's not true!

However on the Samsung galaxy S5 the folder structure assigned to internal/external SD cards is different.  It's a pity the app doesn't let you browse to the right external SD folder so users don't need to know low level Linux.

On Galaxy S3:
  1. Go into Mindjet Settings/Other/Device and tick "Save files to Android device"
  2. Set the Default folder to be ../extSdCard/mindmaps (assuming you have your mindmaps in /mindmaps on the external SD card).
  3. You will need to change the default file format to be Freemind (or whatever format you currently have used).
On Galaxy S5:
  1. Go into Mindjet Settings/Other/Device and tick "Save files to Android device"
  2. Set the Default folder to be ../../extSdCard/mindmaps (assuming you have your mindmaps in /mindmaps on the external SD card).
  3. You will need to change the default file format to be Freemind (or whatever format you currently have used).
