View relationship detail for topics

My map has about 2300+ topics, and I am starting to set down the appropriate relationships between the major parts. I am quickly finding that the design surface has become an unusable mess. I have the system automatically add relationship callouts, because I need them but I only have one chance to put in the text because, heaven-forbid I don't typed the right text because there is just no way that I am ever going to find the right callout ever again because of the sheer number of them, and the distance across the map you may have to travel to find the appropriate floating topic.

There has GOT to be an easier way to deal with this. Is there anywhere that I can, for example, click on a single topic and see a list of the relationships that it has, so I can make modifications to the text, or something like that?

Because, at this point, it seems that from a usability standpoint the map starts to fall apart unless you hide the Relationships in the View menu altogether, and in so doing - you lose a great piece of functionality.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Your question got me thinking: do you need the visual element of a relationship? Otherwise, you could achieve about the same functionality (including a list of relationships for a topic) using the Hyperlinks functionality?

Well, within the methodology I have used to construct this map, I do need to use the Relationships for a specific kind of relationship (not to unnecessarily repeat myself), and that needs to be visual. You might look at it as showing the important "trends" in the map, rather than the straight interconnection of all it's elements.
