I was using Mindjet on my Android phone and today it was automatically updated from the Google Playstore and I lost all my map, I even got a message that the app I had originally downloaded in not on my phones home screen. When I checked my Applications I did find a version of Mindjet but it was not the one I had been using and this new edition required me to sign-up or login. When I tried to request a password reset it wasn't available so I had to sign-up and I still don't have my previous maps. How do I get them back?

I have several hours worth of research in my missing mindmaps since the auto update.

Oh I see they added 3 tabs. Connect Basic has the Getting Started demo map but there's also Dropbox and Device. My old maps are in the Device tab

Where did you see a tab for Device. I only found Mapping, Files (empty) and Contacts

In Settings go to Storage --> Other --> put a checkmark in Devices (and Dropbox if you use it). Also verified that my mindmaps were actually in the default mindmaps folder.

I just tested by unchecking Dropbox and the tab disappeared. Re-checking made it appear again.

The tabs are pretty big and should be near the top of the screen.

Fredrich's got it right, in terms of where you go to enable views of your Connect, Dropbox, and Local file views.

I'm Andy Markham, Mobile Product Manager at Mindjet, by the way--cheers.

Brenda, some of what you're describing sounds foreign to me--unless you have a folder on Dropbox called Contacts, Contacts itself is not a part of our app's user interface. Also, this new release was designed so that updating users would NOT have to signup unless they chose to--when you updated, there should have been a link at the bottom of the main screen saying 'Not Now', enabling you to opt out if you wanted.

If your app is not seeing the locally stored maps, please let us know here on the forum. At a minimum, the app would not have deleted them from your device, they would still be in the 'mindmaps' directory. Thanks.

How about a little help recovering use of the app and my map, please? It was bad enough getting it constructed in the first place.

Thanks.

Hi! I just upgraded mindjet on a samsung galaxy tab and lost a map. That map is the one I was working on. I've been working on it for weeks, so I presume it should be anywhere on the device. but it is NOT apparently on the mindmap folder !! Is there any location such as temp folders where I can look for it?

At the time of the upgrade mindjet was open with that map on screen (in the background)

Hi Rodo,

When you updated, did you make any change (i.e., sign up for Connect?). Which directory were you working on the map in--Local, Connect, or Dropbox? Thanks.

Hi Andy, and thanks for your quick reply !

It was all my fault, updated from a very old version and didn't realize the map was in a custom folder other than Mindmap's. The update runs perfect and is packed with cool new functionality! Keep up the good work!

I had installed Mindjet on my Toshiba Thrive tablet. Today, during an update, I lost the ability to get to my research map that I had been adding to for weeks now. The app wants me to sign in or sign up, but I have used every username and password combination and I am informed that none of the emails I have input exist. Also, the Mindjet site does not exactly let you contact anyone that could answer a question. Very poor service. How can I recover my map. Honestly, I can't remember if I purchased this app or had a free version. Can anyone tell me how to recover my use of the app and my map?

If you weren't using Mindjet Connect and had the maps stored on your system, check if you have tabs near the top for Mindjet Connect Basic, Device, and Dropbox (if enabled).

If all you have is Mindjet Connect then check in the options icon --> Settings --> Storage section to Other (other provider options) --> and make sure Device or Dropbox are checked depending on which one you're using. If using device, check whether it's pointing to the correct location.

Since the first scare of losing my maps, I store copies in all 3 locations -.-

Thanks, Friedrich, that's all good advice.

Adding on to that: the app is free, and has always been free under Mindjet. If you had the 1.x version installed, then the update would not require you to Sign Up--there should be a 'Not Now' link option at the bottom of the Sign Up screen.

If you don't see that 'Not Now' link, and you updated, the strong likelihood is that you stored your maps locally on a folder not recognized by the app. Try Friedrich's suggestions first, and if you still haven't found your map, you should look in the Files app on your device, under the SD card contents. It should be there--installation or updating of the app does not delete any existing files.
