Did you try a repair? If you went to a new laptop it may mean the bit version changed from 32 to 64 bit. They have to be aligned.

You could also (save your license key to remember it) re-install maindmanager on your new machine. That way it should automatically select the correct bit version.
But again check if the MSWord version is also on the same bit.

Is Word installed on the Lenovo? The export will not work until it is.
Is the Word plugin enabled in File > Options >Plugins?

Same problem - export is greyed out for both Word and Powerpoint on MM18 on my laptop, but the menu structure is different on my desktop installation. On desktop there is no "export" tab and all options are under the "share" tab (and work fine), on laptop there are both and under the "export" tab they are greyed. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem and tried all the solutions mentioned here. Why is there no solution, Mindjet?

The solution is installing standard office package.  I had this as I was running Office 365, doesn't seem to work with it.

Running Office 365 doesn't seem to be the problem. I'm running identical versions of a 32-bit Office 365 subscription - in fact, the same subscription - on a desktop and a recent Dell Inspiron 13 7000, along with identical 32-bit versions of MindManager 2020. Export to Word and PowerPoint work fine on the desktop, but both export options are greyed out on the laptop. I've tried everything short of a complete reinstall of Office. If I do this I might look at installing 64-bit versions of both Office and MM to see if that makes a difference.

I'm not dismissing your suggestion completely out of hand, however. One interesting difference between my two machines is that the desktop one actually has an old version of Office 2010 still installed. While this isn't in use I'm wondering if it interacts in some weird but positive way with MindManager. I'd be curious to see if there is pattern of this problem appearing only where there has been no previous installation of Office.

Digging a little deeper I have found that the two Office installations are not identical after all. The desktop PC - the one where MindManager exports to Word and PowerPoint successfully - has the Click to Run version installed, while the laptop has a "traditional" Microsoft Installer (MSI) version. This is weird and seems to be the opposite of your suggestion, and the advice given by MindManager support.

We are in the process of removing the requirement to have Office installed to do Microsoft Exports. In Version 20 for example, you no longer need Office installed to Export to Excel.

Hi SIA, that’s great, but as I indicated in response to your survey regarding Word export it’s important to preserve the option to export using the MindManager Word styles as well as without them. There are two reasons for this:

First, some people have got used to MindManager’s slightly clunky approach to Word export, in which it creates MM versions of the styles used in the Word template selected for export, to the point that they may have started using these styles as the default for their own Word templates and documents to ensure consistency.

Second, and far more importantly, it’s possible to use these styles to assist with import from Word. This is an undocumented feature but it can be very useful to control exactly where specific imported paragraphs end up in a mind map based on an imported file. The most important benefit of this is the ability to apply the MM Hyperlink style to paragraphs containing hyperlinks (for example, a table of website addresses) to ensure that they end up as hyperlinks in the mind map rather than as topics, which aren’t particularly useful.
