Why is MindManager forgetting the icon associated with a file type PDF?

I have a map which links to various file types and web pages.

They all display with the correct file icon except for pdf files which display the unknown file type icon.

However if I close MindManager and reopen the map, it reverts to the Adobe file type icon.

Deleting links and remaking them does not fix the problem. Nor does closing and reopening the map. The application has to be restarted.

PAIN!

Hello Andrew,

Can you confirm which version of Adobe Reader you are running?

I found the issue to be with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Which is a "Document Cloud".

Once I downgraded to Adobe Reader 11 and added a link the links would show up as PDF files.

I was not able to replicate the restarting of the program and the unknown file type being reverted to PDF. For me it stay as an unknown file.

Hello,

Is the file path absolute or relative?

Relative.

Windows gets it wrong as well.  That's the Greenfish Icon Editor icon.

I checked the default program associations in Control Panel. They were all correct.

I like to open this thread again, because I have the same problems with PDF-icons.

It began with the change to Adobe Acrobat DC.
All links to PDF-document had the unknown file type icon.
Before this Icon always was the hint for "link is broken - file is missing).

But now all PDF-Icons were gone. File associations were correct and are displayed in Explorer and other filemanagers.

The links were relative, but it doesn't matter, absolut links had also the "unknown" icon.

Today I had an additionally icon-problem: Excel-Icons also disappeared, but in a little bit other wise:
relative path: "unknown" icon   ..\abc\test.xlsx
absolute path: "unknown" icon  X:\abc\test.xlsx
absolute UNC path: Excel-icon   \\server\...\...\test.xlsx

PDF-icons are still absent in all path-forms.

Regards
Ralf
