Why some links use Drive letter and others resolve to UNC in path

Hi there,

I built a map with links to sub-maps and documents.  Some of the links resolve to UNC paths whereas others remain with the drive letter.  e.g. \\cpsded-z002\AccountingRelated... vs T:\AccountingRelated.  I want all my links to remain with the drive letter.

I'm not sure why some resolve to UNC and others remain with the drive letter.  Could it be that if I navigate to get the path it resolves to UNC and if I paste the path with a drive letter it remains with the drive letter in the path?

This is problematic as our company was sold and moving to a new network.  The new network will have the same layout but alas a different UNC path.

Also, the same issue exists in Word, except I'm not sure network drive letters are ever retained. If there is a trick for retaining drive letters in MS Word document links that would be greatly appreciated.
