Will this display bug ever be fixed? [Export selection screen is not scrollable] and one other annoyance

Well, for a long time now my students have been frustrated when trying to export to MS Project, because on their devices, when they go to Export in Backstage, they can't scroll far enough down to the MS Project export click. To compound matters even more, the solution that I teach: to add export to MS project to the Quick Access Toolbar - does not work in Backstage, as the Quick Access Toolbar is turned off there. See screenshots below. I do realize that Quick Access Toolbar is not supported in Backstage, but MM - instead of just blanking it out completely - shows the icons dimmed. The problem here is that MM is not creating a backstage that looks / works like other office products, and perhaps this should be fixed. Thx!

Another solution that was mentioned in this community a long time ago:

"It's because of the limit of screen estate (depending on your resolution); all options are there, but some are hidden outside of the screen... They are still accessible using the TAB key on your keyboard and then pressing ENTER when you have selected the right option."

yes, another solution but in some cases I've seen where you can just tab off the screen and then you are pressing enter on something you can't see. In short, this just needs to be fixed by MM, but the workarounds here are all good, just inconvenient for all with small screens.

If you don't use the OPML Export you can always go to File->Options->Add-ins and disable this.

This will have the effect of moving the export menu items below up one place.

You could also repeat with any other exports that are redundant. Just remember that you did it in case you need any of them again int he future.

Another option is:

Create a new Ribbon Tab called Exports or do this on an existing Tab
Create a new Ribbon Group called "My Exports" for example.
Add the exports you use mostly to the new Group

You can initiate all this by right clicking the Ribbon Menu and then selecting "Customize the Ribbon"

In the window that opens you can then select the "File Tab" to get a list of all the commands on that Tab which you can then bring into your new or even an existing Tab if you wish.

HTH

Regards

Nigel

yes, all very good ideas that work but add a lot of clicks for something that could just be fixed by the UI designer at MM and released in the next version :)

when i tested the bug, screen is 1400x900 on the MBA, but running VM in a fullscreen window, so a little less than that I suppose. the point being, MM should either make the list scrollable via standard windows methods or use some scaling. during the last workshop, half the pacs (about 7 or 8) could not see the export click and got very confused. They were using laptops and surfaces.
