Windows 8.1 Search Will Not Index MMAP Files

I have Mindmanager 15 running on 3 Windows 8.1 machines. On none of them will Windows Search index the content for searching purposes. I have the directories set to be searched, I have the checkbox to search both title and content checked, and I have checked the mmap extension, in regard to indexing options for Windows Search. On each computer, in the setup it shows under the file type checkoff for mmap files that 'Registered IFilter is not found.' I have looked at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr... as another posting suggested, but there is no way that makes any sense to me. I have over a thousand mmaps, having used the program for many years, and there is no way I can search content across all of them anymore and this is a huge problem for me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to perhaps reinstall the Ifilter correctly, but that has not helped. Any help?

Alternatively, is there any other search program that will search mmap content? I have X1, and it does not, although it did in prior versions. I have Copernic Desktop Search - it does not search either, although many years ago I believe there was a Mindjet Labs add-in that allowed for it, but which stopped working many years ago. Anything anyone else is using with success?

@Chuck... Did this resolve your problem? Do you know if MindJet ever addressed this?

Is this question still about searching in MM vs 15 and WIndows vs 8.1?

Windows 7, 8 & 10 uses filters for indexing called iFilters. They are file type-specific. If you go to Control Panel>Indexing Options>Advanced>File Types [tab] and scroll through the list, you will see that the Filter Description for file types mmap & xmmap says "Registered IFilter is not found". I discovered this because my 64-bit W10 box wasn't finding PDF content and after some digging I found that PDF file types have this same problem in Windows indexing. Adobe has a fix at https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5542 where 64-bit users can download and install the correct iFilter. I posted here because the inability to find things in MindManager mind maps using Windows search is probably due to this issue. So yes, this question is about searching MM maps from outside the application.

Hi Brice. I'm using Windows 10 64 bit and MIndManager 2017. Just looked at my File Descriptions.

For .mmap and .xmmap I have Mindjet MindManager Filter.
For .pdf its Reader Search Handler.

I searched with terms I knew were in both file types of files recently saved. And got a good result. :)

I don't remember doing anything manually to sort this out. So hopefully it's resolved for everyone in the latest versions.
