Zip archive processing error (Mac)

Mindmanager is corrupting any file that I open or create. I am using both MindManager 9.x and Mindjet and cannot create or modify a file without getting the following error:

"Zip archive processing error"
invalid file format, directory record is not found.

followed by:
"The document [doc name] could not be opened"

Is anyone else getting this error? How did you fix it?

Thanks!

Error in version 10.2.501 for Mac.

In MindManager for Mac 10.2.501 I opened an existing file, gave it save in my hard drive, closed MindJet and re-opened the same file and I get an error message "Zip error processing error" followed by "The document "document name" could not be opened". Any solutions?

We have been receiving an increasing number of reports regarding this issue over the past couple of weeks. Apparently, there was an update to OS X on June 4th which seems to be impacting users of Mindjet Mac especially when working with older XML based files.

Currently, the only workaround that we have is:
Rename the file to .XMMAP vs. .MMAP

We will post an update to this issue as we determine a timeline and direction for a in-product workaround.

Received a call this morning from Juan (great customer service from MindJet!!) It looks like a recent OS X Mountain Lion update has created an issue for mind maps and the way that the XML is being processed. Mindjet is currently working on a long-term fix.

Below is the work-around to the problem.

I had recently upgraded Mind Manager to the new 9.6.510 and created a map.  This error was happening to me to with my Mac on Yosemite.  The rename of the extension to .xmmap helped solve the problem.  Thanks.

Just ran into this issue. I added some text with accented characters and it caused it to become corrected. I used the solution above, removed the characters, copied and pasted into another file and saved it.

The character causing me issues was ó

Found this discussion, and just wanted to thank Terry for the workaround. For me, naming my corrupt file from .mmap to .xmmap worked perfectly. Would never have thought of that myself, great advice!

I am getting this error upon opening MindManager. I am running Parallels and this occurs in the Windows virtual machine. However, I am not seeing any impact/corruption to files that I open, create or otherwise use.

Additionally, I receive this message: Storage error. Followed by: Document file (Document.xml) not found in archive.

Again, this is on a Mac running Parallels.

Please try to rename the file to .XMMAP to see if you still see the issue. If the issue persists, please open a ticket with our Technical Support team using the following link: https://secure.mindjet.com/app/suppor...

Zhao,

Maps containing XML errors will not open in MindManager for Windows. Please open a case with our Technical Support Team here https://secure.mindjet.com/app/support.aspx and attach a copy of your Map.

Our Technicians will repair the file and send it back to you via email.

Thanks,
 -Marian

I have encountered this error as well, MAC version 9.6.510, on OSX 10.9. The corrupted file can then also not be opened on Windows 7 with Mindjet Mindmanger 2012 professional. Strangly if I restore the (Autosaved).mmap version of the file, that does open. Renaming to .xmmapp works on the Mac, but not on Windows, the error windows message is;

Het kenmerk 'Language' met de waarde 'en_gb' kan niet worden geparseerd.

It appears that solving this problem seems to be taking Mindjet an inordinate amount of time, so I feel uncomfortable using Mindjet for production work now.

Wim,

Our Windows version does open maps in both the .mmap and .xmmap extension. Your Map won't open in Mindjet for Windows due to errors in the XML.

Please open a ticket with our Technical Support Team and attach a copy of your Map. We will remove the XML errors and send the file back to you through email.

Marian,

Thanks for the reply. I have done as suggested. Any update on when this issue will be solved? It is unpractical to keep sending new file versions for repair .......

Regards,

Wim

I've hyperlinked almost all my Mindmaps to other maps - renaming brings me to a total reorganisation of my work... ... is there any fix ?

Siggi, See earlier posts suggesting sending your maps to Mindjet for repair and use the xmmap file extension. Meanwhile I think it is an outrage that MIndjet is apparently sitting on its hands for months and not doing anything to fix this. I am about to move to another mindmapping application as this is totally unacceptable for use in a professional environment. Does mindjet really want to wait until we start voicing our discontent on Twitter and Facebook to alert potential customers to steer well clear of their product?

I have version 9.0.194 on my MacBook Air running 10.9 Mavericks. Any Mindmap I generate is now unreadable due to a 'Zip Archive Processing Error (Compression method is not supported)'. Sending files off for repair is neither practical nor sustainable.

Should I be considering a different mindmapping application, do you think?

Martin,

Try saving the mind maps as .xmmap files, that works for me. And in any case I will not consider investing in Mindjet's software anymore, because apparently mindjet is sitting on their hands rather than fixing this problem. Very unsatisfactory!

Nice to see that Mindjet took *only* 6 months to fix this problem.

I've moved on to another product, and don't foresee coming back.

What about MindManager for Mac 9? Is this is left unsupported? Usually I'm upgrading every time there is a new version, but this time I opted out because of the high price and rather unimpresive improvement of features. Is this your new strategy to force us to upgrade, by allowing critical errors to exist in older versions? I have been a happy user of MindManger for years (more than 8 years now). But this is simply not fair!

Don't save as format "Mindjet Map (XML) - Default", just save as "mindjet map"

This problem has just occurred for me.  Is there any up to date guidance?  This is on a file I saved yesterday and tried to open this morning, without having updated anything on the OS in between.  The file in question has a .mmap extension (I guess the default - I didn't actively select anything).  Also I can still see the map rendering properly through finder.

Hi Alisdair,

Please try to change the file extension of your Map to '.xmmap'. If it still does not open, please open a case with our Support Team and send in a copy of your Map.

Folks, just had this issue again on Mac and the file couldn't be opened on neither Mac nor PC. Changing the file extension to .XMMAP did allow it to be opened in MM15 on PC (32bit) by the way - contrary to some of the earlier comments.
